BODY: Hand made at Onyx Forge - Strat® shape, bookmatched Quilted Maple on Honduran Mahogany; belly and arm contours; sculpted heel with recessed neck screw ferrules; Ghost ResoMax piezo bridge with hexaphonic output for MIDI interface; barrel style straplocks, deep Tobaccoburst front, Naturalburst back under gloss nitrocellulose lacquer; chrome hardware; rear loaded controls, chrome dome knobs; custom Ebony pickup mounting rings under satin nitro; all screws polished 18-8 stainless steel.


NECK: Hand made at Onyx Forge - Ebony fretboard with "V Block" white Mother of Pearl and Abalone inay on Flame Maple; 13 degree tilt 6/side "KW" headstock (NOTE: This headstock is offered as an optional shape by Onyx Forge with permission from Ken Warmoth, this is not a Warmoth built neck); Quilted Maple headplate shot to match body under gloss nitro; double acting truss rod; Quilted Maple truss rod cover under satin nitro; Paua Abalone Onyx Forge logo; 12" radius fretboard; 25.5" scale; 24 med. jumbo polished stainless steel frets; standard "C" profile with rolled edges; recessed & filled fret slot ends; Grover locking 18:1 tuning machines; zinc alloy threaded inserts for strength and outstanding sustain; double action truss rod; 1 11/16" nut width; custom laminated Graphite & brass alloy 260 nut; back and sides shot to match body under satin nitrocellulose lacquer.


ELECTRONICS: Loaded with both magnetic HBs and a Ghost ResoMax bridge for magnetic / piezo and MIDI outputs. The controls / control functions were highly customized by the customer based on years of playing experience.

  • MAGNETICS: Loaded with 3 DiMarzio "Super 2s". Each pickup is controlled by a dedicated 3-way mini switch for series / split and parallel modes for the coils within that pickup. Pickup selection is via a 6 way rotary that is set up like a Strat with an added "all on" position. Each PUP is controlled with push / pull volume and tone pots. The push / pull function of the volume controls a CAE Sound CB-1 preamp (see below). The tone pot controls mag tone, with the push / pull function controlling the Ghost piezo "mid/dark" tone options.

  • CAE SOUND CB-1 PREAMP: Originally designed by John Cutler for Jerry Garcia, the CB1 is a Hi-Fi wideband guitar preamp. It buffers the high impedance output of the guitar pickup and provides the low impedance drive necessary to send the signal to the effects pedals with no tone loss. The CB-1 is designed to sit between the pickups and the output jack and to be "in circuit" at all times. On this guitar, the mag volume pot push / pull bypasses the CB-1 when pulled. The CB-1 is powered by a dedicated 9v battery located in a dual battery box on the back of the guitar.

  • PIEZO: Graphtech Ghost ResoMax Tune O Matic style bridge with Graphite piezo saddles, each with a dedicated output lead routed through a Graphtech Acoustiphonic / Hexaphonic preamp combo. Piezo output is contolled via a dedicated push / pull volume pot that turns piezo output on when pulled. Output is either mixed with mag output when a mono cord is used or exported to the 2nd channel when a stereo "Y" cord is used. Piezo output is also exported via the 13 pin MIDI jack. As noted above a "light / dark" mode for the piezo output is controlled via the push / pull function of the mag tone pot. Piezo / MIDI output is powered by a dedicated 9v battery located in a dual battery box on the back of the guitar.

  • MIDI: Courtesy of the Graphtech Acoustiphonic / Hexaphonic preamps mentioned above. MIDI output is controlled via its own dedicated push / pull volume pot. MIDI output is off unless the switch is pulled. There is also a momentary mini switch that increments / decrements the current MIDI patch from the guitar.
