Serial CA7C025 - COMMISSIONED Custom Jag Carvetop - I call it an "S" type Jag because it's loaded with Strat pickups. That's an understatement. The single coil mags are Kinman "Blues for Strat" pickups with a Kinman K9 wiring harness for parallel / series switching / blending of the mags. The bridge is an LR Baggs Piezo "X Bridge". All wired through an LR Baggs Control X preamp, allowing blending mags / piezo output in both stereo and mono output switchable from the front of the guitar. See the full specs below the pics. BODY: Hand made at Onyx Forge - Carvetop Jaguar - Bookmatched Flame Maple top on a White Korina backing blank. Translucent "Emberburst" face and back under gloss nitrocellulose lacquer; sculpted heel with recessed neck screw ferrules for outstanding upper fret access; undyed binding stripe; custom natural Birdseye Maple pickup rings; LR Baggs piezo bridge; all screws polished 18-8 stainless steel; through body stringing with recessed vintage style string ferrules; recessed Dunlop Straploks.

NECK: Hand made at Onyx Forge - Macassar Ebony fretboard with Paua Abalone inlays on a Flame Maple neck shot to match the body; 12" radius fretboard; 25.5" scale; "C" profile with rolled edges; Onyx Forge 13 degree tilt Vintage 6 / side headstock; stainless steel medium jumbo frets; Paua Abalone side dots; 18:1 ratio Grover locking tuning machines; "Emberburst" headstock face and Flame Maple truss rod cover to match body; zinc alloy threaded inserts for strength and outstanding sustain; Paua Abalone Onyx Forge logo on headstock; double action truss rod; 1 3/4" nut width; custom laminated Graphtech & brass alloy nut.

ELECTRONICS:

  • MAGNETIC PICKUPS / WIRING - This guitar is loaded with a set of Kinman "Blues For Strat" pickups. Chris Kinman makes a "K9" wiring harness with proprietary IC boards on the 5 way blade and push / push pot. This rig allows for standard Strat switching, or unique blendable parallel / series switching for the magnetic pickups. The K9 IC board on the 5-way also has a tone switch for both normal and "hi definition" settings.
  • PIEZO BRIDGE - An LR Baggs hardtail "X Bridge" with fully adjustable piezo saddles. It provides a tone much like an acoustic guitar, with very high definition and pick attack when used alone.
  • CONTROL X PREAMP - This is a powered preamp that controls the output from both the magnetic and piezo input sources when in the mono mode. It comes with a 3-way switch that allows magnetics only, mags and piezo, or piezo only. The Control X pot blends the mag / piezo signals as desired with the 3-way in the middle position in the mono mode.
  • STEREO / MONO OUTPUT - The Control X preamp has a push / push button that is accessible from the front of the guitar. When pushed in, the guitar is in mono mode and works as described above with a standard guitar cable. When out, a stereo "Y" cable supplied with the guitar outputs magnetic and piezo signals to separate channels or amplifiers. When in stereo mode, the master volume controls the mag volume, and the Control X pot independently controls the piezo output.
  • WIRING - All interior wiring channels, cavities and the back of the control plate are coated with grounded conducting paint to eliminate unwanted RF interference. Vintage style cloth wire is used for an unbroken wire core through 3 or more lugs.
