Serial CA6F015 - I recently finished an LP style double cut++ loaded with a L.R. Baggs piezo bridge and Duncan pickups (see it). I liked it so much, I decided to make one for myself. The only difference is that this one is Burnt Orangeburst and has a Goncalo Alves neck with a solid Quilted Maple headstock block. This guitar was finished Sept. '06.

BODY: Hand made at Onyx Forge - Double cutaway carve top; bookmatched Quilted Maple on Mahogany; custom mixed "Burnt Orangeburst" aniline dye under clear gloss nitrocellulose lacquer; unstained binding stripe; belly contour; sculpted neck pocket with recessed neck ferrules; recessed Dunlop Straploks; rear loaded controls with recessed amber speed knobs; polished 18-8 stainless screws throughout; hand made translucent black Quilted Maple pickup rings.

NECK: Hand made at Onyx Forge - bolt neck; 13 degree tilt headstock; 24 stainless steel medium jumbo frets; Ebony fretboard on Goncalo Alves with solid AAAA Quilted Maple headstock block; custom Burnt Orangeburst aniline dye to match body; satin nitrocellulose lacquer on back of neck; 25.5" scale; "C" profile; rolled edges; zinc alloy threaded inserts for strength and outstanding sustain; custom white Mother of Pearl and Paua Abalone Florentine Diamond inlay markers; Paua Abalone side markers; white Mother of Pearl Onyx Forge logo; Grover locking tuners; double action truss rod; 1 11/16" nut width; custom laminated Graphtech & brass alloy nut; custom Quilted Maple truss rod cover shot to match headstock.

ELECTRONICS: Loaded with both magnetic and piezo pickups with a 3-way mini selector that isolates or mixes piezo / magnetic output in stereo or mono.

  • MAGNETICS: Seymour's Pearly Gates humbuckers at the neck and bridge routed through a unique balance / blend pot, master volume and tone controls. The volume and tone pots are push / pulls that split a dedicated pickup when pulled for mixed, full single or double coil sound. A 2-way mini toggle reverses phasing of the neck pickup.
  • PIEZO: L. R. Baggs TuneOMatic style bridge routed through a Baggs Control X preamp. Includes a stereo / mono output switch. The Control X unit allows blending of the piezo / magnetic pickups and utilizes one master volume control for all output. Since each string saddle has its own piezo pickup and lead, this guitar can be modified to full hexaphonic output from the piezo bridge, meaning a dedicated output channel for each string.
